DEFYING THE ODDS

Eathen Elliott

Hi I am Eathen, I am 5 years old and my life has mostly been spent at the hospital and filled with many obstacles and surgeries (49). The Doctors have said there were several activities and milestones that I would not reach, but I have defied all of the doctor's expectations.  My dad and step mom have done a great job of taking care of me and helping me defy the odds, but now they need some help.

My next hurdle is a kidney transplant that has an estimated cost of $75,000 (that is after my insurance pays their portion.)

Luckily they found Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) they are a non-profit 501(c)3 that helps fundraise and distribute the funds to the appropriate sources.

If you are willing to donate please click the Donation Options button, or find an event on the Activities and Events page.

I am currently on the waiting list to receive a kidney (as of January 25, 2010).  So at any time my dad could receive a call and take me to the hospital for my most important surgery yet (number 50)!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!

FROM COTA:

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. In North Texas, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like local boy Eathen Elliott.

Born on February 5, 2005, Eathen was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, and doctors at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas recommended a life-saving kidney transplant. An estimated $75,000 is being raised by North Texas volunteers.
